The beautiful German word Fernweh for me, doesn’t have anything to do with travel. It’s simply the desire to be elsewhere from where I am at the moment.

I want to be sleeping while I am working and I want to be working while I am walking. I want to be shopping while having lunch and want to be eating when I am talking to somebody.

Simply the need to be doing something that I am not doing at the moment and being at the place I am not then. I might be confidently feeling in place and still wanting to be elsewhere. Strange human nature that always yearns for what one doesn’t have at the moment. Not needy, not dissatisfied, nor greed, yet wanting something different.

Maybe that’s what keeps us going, after all.

With love,
